		<description>
Featured Exhibit:&#38;nbsp;Liminal Bodies and Space Exhibition3D TOUR
National exhibit, “Liminal Bodies and Space,” at the Reese Bullen Gallery at Cal Polytechnic by Amanda Stojanov and Linh Dao,The exhibit runs from Nov. 7 through Dec. 14, 2024 and is the second installment in a national exhibition series hosted by the gallery.
“Liminal Bodies and Space” highlights the distinct but echoed personal experiences of the artists as newcomers to the United States, illuminating the resulting transformation of their identities in the physical and virtual worlds. The exhibition emerges as a response to an elusive sense of belonging in America as others or foreigners. Their works explore the ongoing tension and fluidity within both personal and societal concepts of identity. They share their experience of femme and otherwise marked bodies as they adjust to the process of assimilation and the erosion of their languages, history, and cultures. The artists use technologies, in conjunction with expressive typography, to interrogate marginalized realities, including augmented reality, virtual reality, projections, performance, and interactive experiences.
Dao and Stojanov also held a five-day engagement with the Art + Film Department at the Humboldt campus, which included workshops for students as well as a public artist talk in the Reese Bullen Gallery during the opening reception.

	Transitional Threads, 2024
	Interactive virtual reality (VR) experience

Co-creators: Linh Dao &#38;amp; Amanda Stojanov

Dao Thuy Linh (daotlinh.com)

Sound Designer: Kacie Horowitz

Transitional Threads is a virtual reality (VR) experience where viewers interact with words and an environment. The artists extracted the words from the text they wrote about their feelings and experiences leaving their home country and coming to live in the U.S. The viewers move throughout the environment while the written narrative and soundscape transform. The viewers can create new meaning by manipulating the words through movement, decay, and disruption. The movement of the words and the user symbolizes the transitional space between leaving and arriving, like a limbo lasting any duration.

	EcoFemAR
 2023
	interactive augmented reality (AR) experience

EcofemAR is an immersive augmented reality artwork that fuses natural and synthetic elements. The organic movements and cycling of objects and words beckon viewers to enter the peice and evoke memories of their past interactions with nature. The piece engages the viewer physicallt with the artwork using scale. The artwork emphasizes the importance of the environment and the parallel between caring for nature and caring for human beings.

This is an ongoing project that I continue to develop, adding questions and scanned natural objects into the AR environment.
EcoFemAR was exhibited at

ChaShaMa Matawan gallery during the duration of Now You
Don’t, an installation by Suzan Globus featuring an augmented
reality artwork by Amanda Stojanov. An
artists talk was held on Sunday, April 2 at 3 pm.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>Script for A Womxn Destroyed Performance by Amanda Stojanov:

[Start] Breathing – 4 breaths

“Under a lifetime of vigilance and fear of bodily harm often lies a bedrock of rage” (Febos, 2021)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“I just stay here stewing in my own shit.

I’m sick of it. I’m sick of it.

Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick. Sick.

I’m sick!” (Beauvoir,1969, p. 98)

“… You’re taking your revenge you’re torturing me because I haven’t drooled in admiration before you” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.120)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

I’m sick of always worrying about what everyone else needs. I’m sick of not saying no. I’m sick at cowering at myself. Full of shame and fear. I’m sick of being afraid to be wrong. I want to be wrong!

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“No compromise no act: that proper little [womxn] was me all right. I’m clean, I’m [queer] I don’t join in any act: that makes them mad - they hate being seen through they want you to believe the stuff they hand out or at least to pretend to” (Beauvoir,1969, p.92)

“My serious thoughtful voice makes me feel sick: what I should really like to do is scream” (Beauvoir,1969, p.95)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

I can’t remember the last time I screamed with rage. I think that would feel good. Hmmm.

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“I reason I explain I prove: patiently step by step I force them to the truth I think they’re following me and then I ask “What have I just said?” They don’t know the stuff themselves with mental earplugs and if a remark happens to get through their answer is just so much [crap]” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.102)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

&#38;nbsp;
“I didn’t let it worry me all that much I knew all I had to do was wait and one day

 [they] would understand and [they] would say I was the one who was in the right and not them and cram it down their throats” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.96)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

I’m exhausted, burnt out, my hormones are all fucked up, I don’t even want to look at anyone. I’m sick of it.

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“They don’t like being seen through: as for me I’m [queer] I don’t join their act I tear masks off. They don’t forgive me for that” (Beauvoir, 1969, p. 99)

“When I think back over it, it seems to me that if anyone had loved me properly I should have

been affection itself” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.111)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

The burning shameful truth is I left myself neglected. A total abandonment. Each time I said yes but meant no. Each time I moved, loved, did in the image of someone else. When I bent, and curled, and cowered so they could stand tall. Each time I desperately wanted to be liked and acted in the way I believed they wanted me to, objectifying myself out of being. Ouch.

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“[Shitheads]! You nearly got me down but you didn’t quite succeed. I’m not your scapegoat: your remorse—I’ve thrown it off. I’ve told you what I think of you - each one has had [their] dose and I’m not afraid of your hatred I walk clean through it. [Shitheads]!” (De Beauvoir, 1969, p.116)

“They are killing me the [shitheads]... I must win. I must I must I must I must I must” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.111)

[Breathe]

&#38;nbsp;
“I used to like the moon it was like me; and they’ve mucked it up like they muck everything up …” (Beauvoir, 1969, p.91)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

But I’m not like the moon. Or I am, or, well, I’m like… uh I’m so tired of explaining myself. I’m too expansive for you anyway. I am and will be whatever whenever I want. I can feel rage and delight both at the same time… if I want.

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

“I don’t intend to oblige them, thank you very much indeed. I want to live I want to come to life again” (Beauvoir,1969, p.101)

[Breathe and close my eyes switch voices]

Why don’t you tell me who you are? What you want? What makes you, sick? And if you want anything else from me, it’s going to be a no, sickos.

&#38;nbsp;
[End] Breathing, 4 breaths.

A Womxyn Destroyedis a performance that delves into the anger felt by femme or femme-identified
individuals who have traversed the spectrum of femme experiences, embracing,
transforming, or relinquishing this identity while frequently concealing these
emotions. Through this virtual performance, I create a space for the expression
and exploration of anger.

The first performance will be by the creator of the
project Amanda Stojanov.

	software, interactive site, videoduration: 2:10 seconds

pink-noise.info, I am real is an original interactive animation built entirely with code and sound. The code analyzes the frequency of the sound and then using that data determines the intensity and colors of the graphics. The audio is a recording of a voice whispering to itself intimately.
The video documentation shows the interaction of the site animation and can also be displayed as an independent video work. The site can be accessed at pink-noise.info preferably with firefox, chrome, or a similar browser. This site will be archived on 11/05/2022.&#38;nbsp;This animation was made using the p5.js library.

“Pink-noise.info, I am real” was featured in CAA’s group online exhibition Unbonded Unleashed Unforgiving. Unbounded Unleashed Unforgiving attempts to understand and reclaim cyberfeminism nearly 30 years after the vns Matrix Cyberfeminist Manifesto for the 21st Century first oozed into our collective consciousness. Instead of focusing on cyberfeminism from a historical perspective, this international group exhibition explores the multiple ways artists and scholars are actively engaging in contemporary methods of cyberfeminism as practice today through new digital tools - like web VR, 3D objects, avatars, social media performativity, manifestos, and worldbuilding. More info on Rhizome and&#38;nbsp;https://newart.city/show/unbounded-unleashed-unforgiving.

“Pink-noise.info, I am real”,was featured at “Fubar” festival, a Zagreb Based multi-media event, focused on the theme of discovering and displaying errors (i.e., glitch) in the very process of creating cross-disciplinary new media art. The October 2020 festival program was financially supported by the “Kultura Nova” Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and the City of Zagreb.

	Belgrade Art Studio ResidencyUntitled, 2022
	WORK IN PROGRESS
Fabric stitched together, recycled clothing, cotton, 9 blocks
Read more on the residency and the project on:&#38;nbsp;https://belgradeartstudio.com/amanda-stojanov-2/

The fabric that I stitched together into a quilt top is a visual technique in quilting known as the log cabin block. The log cabin block starts with one square in the middle then rectangle strips are added around the square. I used an imrpov techinque of ripping fabric into different sizes creating an organic shape when the blocks are stitched together.

This project started by looking into pictures of fabrics that my ancesters either owned or created. This design came from a blanket that is a staple in my grandmother’s home in Betina, Croatia. My intention when starting this residency was to begin a process of creating handmade fabrics and re imaginig them with digital technologies. In these efforts I hope to discover something about how we perceive online objects and if they feel tactile to us and how.

My work has often looked at cyberfeminism and the “historically constituted body”. With this work I want to begin exploring that with fabrics in AFK and virtual spaces. Subjects I will explore through this body of work are Immersive, enveloping, comes together and moves apart, history, archiving, preserving traditions, feelings and place/a sense of home and belonging.
Process:

Hurricane, 2019
	software, digital image projectionduration: 1 hour (fifteen 4 min intervals)

Hurricane is an animated visualization of Superstorm Sandy. The original animation is built entirely with code and sound. The code analyzes the frequency of the sound and then using that data, determines the intensity and colors of the graphics. Through a sequence of high winds, wave intensity, transformer explosions, and heavy rain, the animation aims to capture the essence of the storm.

Superstorm Sandy affected a vast area of the U.S and Carribean, the impact of which is still being felt today. As recovery progresses, and we share our stories, the tale becomes a network of voices. The sounds and images found in Hurricane, draws inspiration from an evolving web of imaginary lines—completing the connection between the individual and the collective.This animation was made using the p5.js library.

Hurricane, 2019 by Amanda Stojanov, won an AVA Gold Award https://enter.avaawards.com/entry/hurricane-2019/. Other Gold Award winners include Microsoft, Salesforce, and Purdue University
